A Partial Can Restore Multiple Compromised Teeth

Posted .

Chronic problems with periodontal disease or a pronounced history of tooth decay issues can severely compromise your mouth. Beyond simply impairing your ability to chew food, these compromised teeth can also have a negative effect on your speech and overall quality of life. In a situation like this, Dr. Richard J. Gawarzewski might recommend having any remaining compromised teeth in one area extracted in preparation for a partial denture.

The process of being fitted for a partial begins with our dentist examining your mouth and taking a few X-rays. This helps us to assess the overall health of your mouth and identify any other problematic teeth that need to be addressed. Should your dentist find any other suspect teeth, they might need to be repaired or extracted before you can be fitted for your new partial. The dentist will then cast an impression of the area, which will be sent to a dental lab, produces your custom partial.

When your partial is done we will call you back into our office for a brief second appointment to fit your new partial in place and making any minor adjustments. Many people with partials prefer to use denture adhesive to secure their partial in place and help block out food particles.

If you have multiple compromised or missing teeth in one area of your mouth, and you are curious about restoring their function with a partial, please call us at 856-767-0053 to schedule an appointment today.
